The casing of our softgels in Bovine derived making them veganless. Bovine gelatin is made from the bones and skins of animals which is considered an animal by-product.

The main factors we considered when choosing a softgel casing were bioavailability and compatibility of the material's solubility. Our goal was and is to give you the best possible product. This does not mean that we won’t change our formulations in the future, it means this is the best option currently.

The amount of CBD absorbed in the body is not the amount of CBD available from the product. Just by itself, bioavailability of ingested CBD is not very high. There are various techniques to increase the amount of CBD absorbed in the body, and we have applied several of them in these soft gels. Primarily, we are using a fat soluble carrier oil (MCT oil) for the CBD. This carrier oil makes it much easier for the body to transfer the CBD to the bloodstream from the GI tract. Our preferred carrier oil will rest for a very long time with zero degradation in a bovine soft gel, while vegan or vegetarian capsules show signs of degradation much sooner than we would like. While vegan/vegetarian capsules have label advantages, the lack of stability in the optimal carrier oil for increased bioavailability makes vegan/vegetarian capsules hard to opt for. The disadvantage of a bovine gelatin essentially comes down to the fact that it is animal based, and some people don't like that. However, given its bioavailability advantages and solubility advantages with both the CBD and the GI tract, bovine gelatin's advantages outweigh its disadvantages.
